Delhi University hikes admission fee in UG course, will be applicable from next session
An official of the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) estimated that the annual fee for each student would increase by about Rs 1000. The increased fee will be implemented from the new session.
Delhi University (DU) has decided to increase the fee for UG courses from 2022-23. DU has added new sections like University Facilities, Service Charges, Economically Weaker Section Cooperation Fund and University Student Welfare Fund in the fee structure. Apart from this, it has increased the fee under the University Development Fund from Rs 600 to Rs 900. An official of the Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) estimated that the annual fee for each student would increase by about Rs 1000. However, the university said that this increase will not be that much.
The new fee will be implemented from the new session
In a notification issued on July 26, DU said that this exercise has been done to rationalize the fee for admission in various colleges of the university and ensure uniformity in various expenditure heads. It said the new fee would be implemented from the academic session 2022-23. According to the university, there has been no change in tuition fees and Delhi University Students' Union fund.
Minimum fee hiked
However, some parts of fees like College Student Welfare Fund, College Development Fund etc. are yet to be decided by the colleges. A DU official said that the financially weaker section's cooperation has been added to the university fund, and for that every student will have to pay Rs 100. We have just organized it, there is no big change.
UDF has been increased from 600 to 900
DUTA executive Anand Prakash said that the university used to take Rs 600 for the University Development Fund earlier, now they have increased the amount to Rs 900. In addition, new sections have been added. The fee will increase by a minimum of Rs 1,000. After the university hike, the college will also restructure the fee and this will further increase the fee.
