Heavy rain has thrown life out of gear in South Korea's capital region. Roads are starting to look like rivers in Seoul's Gangnam district. Eight people have died due to heavy rains, while six are missing.

President Yoon Suk Yeol has ordered the immediate evacuation of those trapped in the at-risk area. Seoul's Dongjak district recorded over 42 cm of rainfall till 9 am on Tuesday.
Alerted to officials
South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol said that heavy rains are expected to continue for several days. Along with this, he has asked the officials to be prepared to deal with the situation of landslides and floods in many districts due to rains. Meanwhile, the president also noted that most of Seoul's subway services had returned to normal operations, but dozens of roads were closed due to safety concerns.
Cars and buses stuck in muddy water
The rain that started on Monday morning intensified by evening. By nightfall, people were walking through the water in the streets of Gangnam, Seoul's most bustling city. Here cars and buses were stuck in muddy water. Water was seen falling like a waterfall from the stairs of the Isu metro station. Many passengers were stuck here. In the nearby town of Seongnam, a weak hill collapsed on a university football field due to rain. Simultaneously, three people were killed in landslides in the nearby cities of Gwangju and Hwaseong.
