Heart disease is the cause of 28% deaths in India, Shocking revelation in ICMR report

Heart diseases are taking the form of an epidemic in the country. Now in a report of ICMR, there has been a shocking disclosure about this. According to the report, 28 percent of the total deaths in the country are due to heart disease.

The Union Health Ministry has given this information in the Rajya Sabha. It has been told in the report that a large number of people have lost their lives due to cancer and diabetes. 

Health Ministry gave written reply in Rajya Sabha

In a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, the Health Ministry said that the ICMR has released a report titled India: Health of the Nation's States. It has been told in this report that out of the total deaths in the country in the year 2016, 28.1 percent of the deaths were due to heart diseases. Whereas in the year 1990, this figure was 15.2 percent.

At the same time, 8.3 percent of those who died of cancer, 10.9 percent of deaths due to respiratory diseases are included. It is worth mentioning that 2.2 percent of the deaths were due to digestive diseases and 2.1 percent due to mental diseases. Diabetes and blood related diseases have caused 6.5 percent deaths.

It has been told in the report that in the year 1990, 53.6 percent people died due to communicable diseases, maternal diseases, diseases of newborn children and malnutrition related diseases in the country. At the same time, 8.5 percent people died due to injury. In 2016, the death toll from communicable diseases, maternal and neonatal diseases and malnutrition-related diseases has come down to 27.5 per cent. Whereas the death toll due to injury is 10.7 percent and the death toll due to other diseases is 61.8 percent.
