Entry in politics after father's death
Although politics was in Jagan Mohan Reddy's blood since childhood, but he started his career as a businessman. Jagan Mohan was a successful businessman before joining politics. However, in 2009, Jagan Mohan's father and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YSR Reddy died in a helicopter crash. Rebellion from Congress
After the death of his father, Jagan Mohan was considering himself as the natural contender for the post of the next Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. However, he was shocked when the Congress announced the name of K Rosaiah as the successor of YSR Reddy. In such a situation, Jagan Mohan rebelled against the Congress and formed a separate party of his own. He named the party 'YSR Congress' after his father.
First success in 2012 and 16 months in jail
When Jagan Mohan left Congress and formed YSR Congress, 18 Congress MLAs also came with him. This led to by-elections on those 18 seats, in which YSR Congress won 15 seats with a bang. However, in the meantime, Jagan Mohan had to stay in jail for about 16 months in the disproportionate assets case.
Chief Minister in the year 2019
Jagan Mohan's party did not get much success in the assembly elections held in Andhra Pradesh in the year 2014. After this, Jagan Mohan did a padyatra of 3648 kilometers in the state before the 2019 assembly elections. He got the benefit of this in the 2019 assembly elections and his party YSRCP won 151 seats. With this, Jagan Mohan became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
