Mumbai Local Train Services Will Resume From: Timings and Other Details
After a gap of 10 months the freezed local train services in Mumbai region will get to life again and will give full service to the general public from today.
Since March ,2020 after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic the lives of residents of Mumbai and the neighbouring towns have been seriously affected due to the restriction of travel by local trains.
New Delhi: After a gap of 10 months the freezed local train services in Mumbai region will get to life again and will give full service to the general public from today.
The announcement was made by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday as soon as the Maharashtra government proposed to resume the services for all commuters.
Since March ,2020 after the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic the lives of residents of Mumbai and the neighbouring towns have been seriously affected due to the restriction of travel by local trains.
The railway minister tweeted, "My dear Mumbai citizens, for the convenience of all of you, the Mumbai local train will be started from February 1."
"I urge all of you to follow all the necessary rules and guidelines related to Coronavirus during the journey. Any kind of negligence can become a problem for us and others as well. If you will be safe, then everyone traveling with you will be safe," he added
Reports claim the local trains for the general public to be available in three-time slots:
-From the start of the day's services to 7 am.
--12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
- 9:00 pm to the end of the day.
As instructed by the Maharashtra government only people associated with important services are allowed to travel between 7:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
A state government official informed that State Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar asked the Chief General Managers of Western and Central Railways to allow local train commuters to travel as per the laid down schedule.
Last year in June people associated with essential and emergency services were allowed to travel in the local trains.However, later, women were also permitted by the authorities to travel in locals during the unassigned hours.
In its circular , the state government said requesting all establishments to modify their work schedule so that employees could be benefitted from the new schedule. The shops in Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) were also allowed to operate till 11 pm, and restaurants till 1 am.
"Thirty per cent limit for the staff in these establishments will continue to be in force and they will be allowed to operate as per the SoPs issued for daily operations of the same by various departments of the government," it said
