Preparations for another flight of Tata Group, discussion on helicopter manufacturing in the country with Lockheed Martin

The Tata Group is preparing for another flight in civil and military aviation. The group, which is preparing to build transport aircraft in Gujarat in collaboration with Airbus, now plans to develop modern helicopters in India. The company is in discussion with the defense sector giant Lockheed Martin about this. If all things go according to plan, then Sikorsky S-76 aircraft will be manufactured in India. Tata recently signed an agreement with Airbus to manufacture 40 C-295 aircraft in India. These aircraft will be made in Gujarat.

Second major agreement possible between Lockheed Martin-Tata Group

If this agreement goes through, it will be the second major agreement between the two companies, Lockheed Martin and the Tata Group have already contracted to manufacture the wings of the F-16 aircraft and parts for the C-130 aircraft. According to initial reports, there will be many opportunities for small domestic companies for the Sikorsky S76.

It is believed that this deal will give a big push to the government's plan to make in India and become self-reliant in the defense sector. This is the first helicopter of Sikorsky to make helicopters for the army, which is useful for both defense and civil sectors and is considered very reliable worldwide. At present, there is a lot of demand for this helicopter for the shipping industry and VIP movement. At the same time, the armies of Britain, Japan, Spain and Saudi Arabia use it.

Agreement on transport aircraft with Airbus

At the same time, Tata and Airbus will jointly prepare the C295 transport aircraft in Vadodara, Gujarat, for which the construction of the unit will start at the end of this month. These aircraft will be part of the Indian Air Force. Only C 295 will not be manufactured in the plant. According to the needs of the Air Force, new aircraft of the future will also be manufactured here. Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems will jointly manufacture this aircraft.

In September 2021 itself, India had made a deal with Airbus for 56 C 295 transport aircraft, this entire deal was worth Rs 21 thousand crores. The government is working on a plan to replace the new aircraft with the aging Avro 748 aircraft. With this project, this will be the first time that private companies in India will jointly manufacture aircraft.
