Renault Triber: Renault India’s only 7-Seater
Renault Triber - Checkout details of Renault Triber price in India, variants, dimension, reviews, latest news, specification & features.
The French carmaker in India has only three offerings from its portfolio. Those three offerings belong to different segments. For instance, their entry-level offering, the Kwid, caters to hatchback-oriented buyers, while the Triber caters to seven-seater-oriented buyers. On the other hand, the Renault Kiger targets sub-compact SUV-oriented patrons.
Apart from that, all these three Renault cars are technically related to each other. They are based on the same Renault-Nissan in-house engineered CMF-A+ platform.
In terms of rivalry, the Renault Triber doesn’t have any direct rivals. However, the close rival, in terms of pricing and seating capacity, can be the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The top model of the Renault Triber is similar to the base model of the Ertiga.
Moreover, like its siblings, the Renault Triber is offered in petrol engine only. It has Kiger’s naturally-aspirated petrol mill. As per sources, the carmaker will most likely use the Renault Kiger’s turbo-petrol engine to power the Triber.
If you are looking for a budget-friendly seven-seater car, then the Renault Triber should be worth adding to your wishlist.
Specifications
As mentioned in the introduction, the Renault Triber has the same DNA as the Renault Kiger, Renault Kwid and Nissan Magnite. It is based on the same CMF-A+ platform and is powered by the same petrol engine. That said, it has Renault Kiger’s naturally-aspirated petrol engine only.
Under the hood, you would find a 1.0-litre Energy engine, which is a 999cc, three-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that is tuned to churn out 71 bhp at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. It sends power to its front wheels via a standard five-speed manual or an optional five-speed AMT gearbox. Considering Triber’s price, especially for the top model, the carmaker should have offered a turbo engine as well. It might have boosted the sales from what it is currently.
As far as fuel efficiency is concerned, the Renault Triber’s mileage ranges between 18.2 km/l and 20.0 km/l. The automatic version has a mileage of 18.2 km/l, while the manual version has a mileage of 20.0 km/l. For your reference, the mileage varies with the combination of engine and transmission, local traffic conditions and individuals’ driving styles. Moreover, as per the feedback from the owners, the average mileage figure received from the manual version is 14.5 km/l, while the AMT version has an average mileage of 16.5 km/l.
Both versions have a 40-litre fuel tank. It is the same as the Renault Kiger.
Let’s keep the engine output aside and jump to the suspension setup of the Renault cars. It has a MacPherson Strut with lower triangle and coil spring suspension at the front and a torsion beam axle suspension at the rear. With this setup, you can expect a comfortable ride quality, as it is tuned on the softer side. You can, however, expect a lot of body roll, especially around the corner, as it misses out on an anti-roll bar. Moreover, the absorption of bumps from potholes and undulations will most likely impress you.
Going further, the Renault Triber has a disc-drum brake setup. The base model of the sub-compact MUV has a smaller tyre profile than the top model. The former runs on 14-inch rims, while the latter runs on 15-inch rims. The base model has a tyre profile of 165/80 R14, while the top model has a tyre profile of 185/65 R15.
Dimensions
As indicated earlier, this vehicle carries a ‘sub-compact’ moniker. In other words, it is a sub-four-metre vehicle. Dimensionally, the Renault Triber has a length of 3991mm, a width of 1739mm, and a height of 1643mm. It sits on a wheelbase of 2636mm. Further, the ride height of the Renault Triber is also pretty suitable for Indian roads, as it is rated at 182mm. It has 2mm more ground clearance than the Maruti Suzuki Ertga’s 180mm.

As for the capacity, the Renault Triber’s boot space is rated at 84-litres but it can be increased to 625 litres after folding down the rear seats.
Features
Before listing out the offerings, it should be worth noting that the features listed here belong to the top model of the Renault Triber.
Inside the Renault Triber, you will get a dual-tone interior with fabric upholstery. The second and third rows have 60:40 and 50:50 split seats, respectively. There are also several cup holders at the front and rear. It also comes along with a cooled glove box. Further, you get power windows (front and rear), electrically adjustable ORVMs, a rear defogger, a rear wiper, an electric tailgate release, and chrome garnishes.
As for exterior lighting, the top model of the Renault Triber is equipped with halogen plus projector headlights, paired with LED DRLs. It also has halogen fog lamps.
Moreover, it has a fully digital instrument cluster, which shows relevant readings, such as gear indicator, speed, RPMs, clock, and more. Besides that, the Triber has an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It has USB and Bluetooth connectivity.
On the safety front, this MUV has an anti-glare IRVM, four airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, etc. Other offerings comprise ESP, traction control, hill hold control, and seat belt warning, to name a few.
Speaking of safety, the Renault Triber secured a four-star safety rating in the Global NCAP’s crash test. That’s a pretty impressive safety rating but there is always a scope for improvement. Hope the upcoming cars from them secure five stars in safety tests.
