The list, published by Russia's Foreign Ministry, includes Canada's Governor General Marie Simon, more than 250 members of regional assemblies and dozens of Canadian athletes who have publicly supported a ban on Russian athletes participating in the 2024 Olympics.

Russia on Wednesday sanctioned 333 Canadian officials and public figures including prominent Olympians. Russia described the move as a tit-for-tat against Canada's sanctions on Moscow and its support for Ukraine. Russia has struck a major blow by imposing a permanent ban on Western officials and high-profile individuals from entering Russia. Since the West sanctioned hundreds of Russian individuals and companies over the invasion of Ukraine.
