Canada has decided to impose new sanctions on Russia in connection with the referendum in four Russian-held territories in Ukraine. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave this information on Wednesday. He said Canada would never approve the results of the referendum or recognize Russia's illegal occupation of Ukrainian territories. Trudeau said that we have decided to impose sanctions on people and organizations responsible for illegal occupation and bloodshed in Ukraine.

According to officials posted by Russia in four regions of Ukraine, after five days of voting, the majority there showed that they are eager to become part of Russia. Trudeau said Canada was in talks with international partners and allies to work with them to eliminate disqualified votes. Kyiv and its allies called this voting illegal and strongly condemned Russia's move. Voting was held in four areas of Ukraine that Russia has occupied. These areas are Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson. These four cities of Ukraine are 15 percent area of ​​the country.

98.4 percent of the people living in Luhansk have voted to join Russia. Whereas in Zaporizia, this figure is 93.1 percent. In Kherson, 87 percent of the votes have been cast in favor of Russia. Earlier in June, Canada imposed sanctions on Russia. Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie announced that new sanctions were being imposed on Russia's financial sector. 

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is announcing more military aid, drone cameras, satellite imagery, small arms, ammunition and other aid for Ukraine. This also included funding for the mining operation.
