Vaccination rolled out successfully

The vaccination drive in India started today with two vaccines, one of them is COVISHIELD produced by Serum Institute of India and another is COVAXIN by Bharat Biotech. Earlier in the morning, it was launched by prime minister Narendra Modi through a videoconference.

The vaccination drive rolled out at 3352 centers in the country and benefited 1,91,181 people. No case of post-vaccination hospitalization reported so far, said Manohar Agnani, Additional Secretary of Union Health Ministry. He also said two types of Covid-19 vaccines are used for vaccination drive. COVISHIELD was supplied to all states and UTs and COVAXIN was supplied to 12 states. 

During the virtual launch, PM Modi paid an emotional tribute to frontliners of the pandemic including scientists and health workers. The vaccination drive rolled out at 3352 centers in the country and benefited 1,91,181 people. AIIMS director, Randeep Guleria, been one of these beneficiaries by receiving the vaccination against Covid-19. 
 
Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare today interacted with the Health Ministers and Principal Secretaries or Additional Chief Secretaries of the States and UTs to review the vaccination drive via video conference.“In the world's largest #COVID19 vaccination program, 191,181 beneficiaries were vaccinated across the country today”, tweeted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in the evening. 
 
In the first phase of vaccination, only frontline workers, healthcare workers, and people above the age of 50 years will be provided the vaccines against the novel coronavirus.
