20 thousand people were massacred in March 1947 on the anniversary of 228 Incident in Taiwan

More than 200 people marched in Taipei, Taiwan's capital, before completing 74 years of the 228 incident. On February 28, 1947, about 20,000 people were massacred in Taiwan. According to the Taiwan Times, the rally was held for the fifth consecutive time on 21 February. The rally was first organized in 2017 by the Tsai Jui-Yuhu Dance Research Institute and the Nylon Cheng Liberty Foundation & Memorial Museum. Groups participating in the rally included the Taiwan Association for Human Rights, Covenant's Watch and the 228 Memorial Foundation.

Most of the protesters wore black clothes. He started his march from Rixin Elementary School in Datong District and proceeded to Executive Yuan via Tianma Tea House, Taipei Branch of Tobacco Monopoly Bureau and Taiwan Broadcasting Station. Nylon Cheng Liberty Foundation and Memorial Museum director Cheng Chu-mei said before March that the purpose of remembering the past is to move towards a better future.

On February 28, 1947, the then Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) regime initiated action against the anti-government protesters. Meanwhile, security personnel in the Governor-General's office (now the Executive Yuan Building) in Taipei opened fire on civilians. Meanwhile, protesters were demanding the arrest of those responsible for the murder of a man a day earlier.

According to the Taiwan Times, a mob gathered outside the Taiyama Tea House in Taipei on Nangi W Road against officials of the Tobacco Monopoly Bureau after a woman illegally selling cigarettes was trapped in Lin Chiang-Mai. That person was also involved in it. Following this action, martial law was enacted on 19 May 1949, which continued until 15 July 1987. During this time action was taken against the people who raised their voice against the government and many people were killed in it.
