Sunday brought double happiness for India in Badminton and Shooting. The Indian doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the gold medal at the Asian Badminton Championships in Dubai.

Gold to India after 58 years

The pair of Satwik and Chirag won the gold medal for India in the Asian Badminton Championship after 58 years. The 2022 World Championships bronze-medallist Indian pair came back from the first game down to beat Malaysian pair of Aung Yew Sin and Teo Ae Yee 16-21, 21-17, 21-19 in a hard-fought match. Earlier, in 1965, Dinesh Khanna won the gold medal in the singles category by defeating Sangob Rattanusorn of Thailand in the Asian Championship.

PM Modi expressed happiness

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi also expressed happiness over this victory. Taking to Twitter, he expressed his happiness and said, "I am proud to become the first Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty to create history by winning a gold medal in the men's doubles event of the Asian Badminton Championships. BCA President announces cash prize

Apart from this, President of Badminton Association of India and Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a cash award while congratulating both of them. He announced to give 20-20 lakh rupees to both the players.
