Before raiding 30 locations of NewsClick, Delhi Police held a meeting at midnight, many journalists were detained in the morning.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police has been raiding 30 locations linked to online news portal Newsclick since Tuesday morning. Under this, the police have detained journalists Urmilesh Aunindyo Chakraborty and Abhisar Sharma associated with the portal. The police have registered a case against them under various sections of the IPC including UAPA. Before the raid, the police had held a meeting late at night.
The Special Cell of Delhi Police has been raiding the premises and houses of journalists associated with the online portal NewsClick since Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, quoting news agency ANI, it is reported that the police had made elaborate preparations before this raid at midnight.
Quoting police sources, the agency has reported that Delhi Police Special had held a big meeting on the intervening night of Monday-Tuesday before raiding 30 locations of NewsClick.
It is being told that the special team of Delhi Police has detained News Click's editor in chief Prabir Purkayastha and writers Paranjoy Guha Thakurta and Urmilesh for questioning.
News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that before today's raid, senior Delhi Police officials had held their first meeting on Monday (October 2). More than 200 policemen had attended this meeting at Lodhi Road office at 2 am.
