The US Navy said that a person was injured during the clearance of the building at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on Thursday. The statement said that there is no active shooter threat of any kind.

Security forces took action

The injured person has been taken to the hospital for treatment and his condition is said to be stable. However, it is not yet clear whether the injured person was a midshipman or what kind of injuries he had suffered.

Naval Support Activity Annapolis said in a statement that Navy security officers and local law enforcement officers arrived at the campus shortly after 5 pm. Earlier, the Naval Academy had said that it was closed due to an abundance of caution due to action on reports of threats.

But Maryland Governor Wes Moore's office had said that there is no credible threat to the Naval Academy at present. Some reports also claimed that gunfire was heard near the academy and that an attacker entered in the guise of a security force personnel.
