Chinese President Xi Jinping stresses security, called his army 'Great Wall of Steel'

China needs security to develop and must modernize its military to build a Great Wall of Steel, Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Monday amid rising tensions with the US. The elected Xi called on China to enhance its ability to safeguard national security and manage public security.

Xi also said on Monday that China should achieve more self-reliance and strength in science and technology.
