Cleanest City: Indore became the cleanest city of the country for the sixth time, Gujarat's Surat is on the second place

Indore of Madhya Pradesh has again become the head of cleanliness. Indore has secured the first position in the cleanliness survey for the sixth time in a row. Indore has got this historic achievement by beating many cities. Madhya Pradesh has become the cleanest state with more than 100 cities.

Indore in Madhya Pradesh has got the honor of being the cleanest city in the country for the sixth time in a row. It is followed by Surat in Gujarat and Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra. The result of the annual cleanliness survey of the central government was released on Saturday. President Draupadi Murmu felicitated the winners at an event held on Saturday. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri was also present in this event. Now the target of a garbage free city has been set under the cleanliness mission. 

List released, Navi Mumbai got status instead of Vijayawada

After the survey, the list of the best performing states was released. At the top of this is the name of Madhya Pradesh, which will be given the Swachh Survekshan Samman 2022. It is followed by Gujarat and Maharashtra. This year, Indore and Surat are in the big cities category, while Vijayawada has been replaced by Navi Mumbai this time. 

Tripura topped the list of states with less than 100 urban local bodies.

In the category of cities with population less than one lakh, Panchgani of Maharashtra secured the first position, followed by Patan of Chhattisgarh and then Karhad of Maharashtra.

Haridwar got the honor of the cleanest Ganga city in the category with population more than 1 lakh. After Haridwar, Varanasi and then Rishikesh got this honor.

Bijnor topped in Ganga Town with a population of less than one lakh. It is followed by Kannauj and then Garhmukteshwar.

In the survey, Deolali of Maharashtra was the cleanest cantonment board in the country.

Cleanliness survey started in 2016

Under this cleanliness survey started in the year 2016, 73 cities were taken. In seven years, this figure has increased to more than 4 thousand. This time was the 7th edition of the cleanliness survey which was conducted under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) for monitoring and ranking of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) on the basis of various parameters of cleanliness. This year 4,354 cities were surveyed.
