On the 19th day of the Tribal Futures Online Fest, Theja Rio, a talented young Angami filmmaker, delivered an inspiring 30-minute online presentation hosted by Shweta Guria, a cinematography student. The session provided a profound exploration of Rio's perspective on ambition and its significance within the communities of his region.
Rio delved into how ambition is perceived and expressed among the Konyak people, shedding light on the cultural values and nuances that shape this concept. Drawing from personal experiences, he discussed how his understanding of ambition fuels his passion for storytelling, enabling him to create films that resonate deeply with his community's dreams and challenges.
As part of the session, Rio shared insights into his earlier short films, Angh and Ade, providing glimpses into his creative journey. A highlight of the presentation was the screening of his short film Remains, which captivated the audience with its emotional depth and compelling narrative.
Rio also discussed how he weaves themes of ambition into his work, portraying the resilience and aspirations of his people through cinematic storytelling. His talk included clips and insights into his filmmaking process, offering an intimate look at how his work reflects collective ambitions while inspiring thought and dialogue.
