Declaration to decriminalize same-sex marriage in Singapore
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong gave information in this regard while addressing the annual National Day rally of Singapore. He said that he believes this is the "right thing to do now" which will be accepted by most of the people of the country.

Right thing to do now: Lee Hsien Loong
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong gave information in this regard while addressing the Annual National Day rally of Singapore. He said that he believes this is the "right thing to do now" which will be accepted by most of the people of the country. In his address, Loong said that this will bring the law in line with the current social model and I hope that it will give some relief to the gays of Singapore.
Amendment to the constitution
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the government would also amend the constitution to ensure that no constitutional challenge to allowing same-sex marriage could arise. He said that despite the repeal of Section 377A, we will uphold and protect the institution of marriage. Further Prime Minister Lee said that we have to amend the constitution to protect it and we will do so. It will help us to control and carefully repeal Section 377A.
