Discounts on ticket for traveling without luggage in flight - DGCA issued circular to airlines
DGCA has suggested to give fare discount to passengers under Zero Baggage / No Baggage Policy, which means that it will now be cheaper to buy tickets for passengers who do not carry luggage bags in the aircraft.
New Delhi:The Director General of Civil Aviation has issued a circular on Friday. According to this circular, discounts have been given to those passengers who only carry cabin bags during the journey. That is, for passengers who do not carry luggage bags in the plane, it will be cheaper to buy tickets. The DGCA has allowed all domestic airlines to discount ticket prices for passengers traveling without luggage.
Zero Baggage / No Baggage Policy
The DGCA in a circular on Friday told all domestic air companies that there should be this arrangement for those traveling with less baggage. DGCA has suggested to give fare discount to passengers under Zero Baggage / No Baggage Policy. However, the DGCA has left the decision on the airline companies how much they will give the price concession.
Information has to be given at the time of booking the ticket
Passengers taking advantage of this will have to inform at the time of booking of the ticket how much luggage they are carrying with them. During the journey, the services provided by the airlines, many times, they are not needed by the passengers. Therefore, it has been decided by the government to separate those services and give passengers an option while booking tickets whether they want to avail that facility or not.
In the circular issued by DGCA, it was said that this decision has been taken on the basis of feedback. As per the current rules, a passenger can walk with 7 kg cabin luggage and 15 kg check in luggage. There is a rule of paying extra goods. The new rules implemented by the DGCA will allow aircraft operators to provide low-cost tickets to passengers who will carry luggage under the prescribed weight.
