The Friendship Day event celebrated around the world first started from the country of Paraguay. It was here in 1958 that for the first time, a proposal to celebrate International Friendship Day was introduced. However, some believe it was primarily introduced in 1930 by Hallmark Cards by Joyce Hall. Since then, on July 30, all countries including the United Nations planned to celebrate it as a tradition. But, some countries including India celebrate this day on the first Sunday of August.

Although every day is Friendship Day between friends, but there is a special kind of feeling on this day. Every friend tries to keep his friends happy. On this day every friend gives a feeling of happiness to his friends by giving them gifts and cute messages. Apart from India, Friendship Day is also celebrated in Malaysia on the first Sunday of August. At the same time, Friendship Day is celebrated on 14 July in Mexico, Venezuela, Estonia and Ecuador. In Pakistan this day falls on 19th July. In Argentina, Brazil, Spain and Uruguay, this day is celebrated on 20 July. Apart from this, this special day is celebrated on 23 July in Bolivia and 30 July in Finland.
