25 years old Rishabh Pant is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mumbai after a car-accident. Now a report is claiming that he will stay away from the cricket field for most of the time in the year 2023. Due to this, Team India has got a big blow. Actually, this year two ICC tournaments are also to be held - World Test Championship and ODI World Cup. Not only this, he will not be able to play in IPL as well.

Pant's 2 ligaments were injured, which has undergone surgery in a hospital in Mumbai. The third surgery is to be done after six weeks. A Cricinfo report states that Pant will be away from the field for most of the year 2023. According to the report, in the medical update given to the BCCI on Pant, who narrowly survived the car accident on December 30, it has been said that this wicket-keeper batsman has torn 3 ligaments in his knee. Two of these have recently undergone surgery while the third is about to undergo surgery.

The doctors are yet to give a definite timeline as to how long it will take for Pant to resume training on the field, but both the BCCI and the selectors have concluded that the wicketkeeper-batsman will be out for at least six months. Pant was last seen playing in the Test series against Bangladesh. In Mirpur, he had played a brilliant inning of 93 runs. He also scored 46 runs in the first Test match of the series played in Chittagong.
Ishan Kishan and Bharat got a chance
In the absence of Pant, the selectors have selected KS Bharat and Ishan Kishan as wicketkeepers for the first 2 matches of the Test series against Australia. It is expected that Kishan will continue in the role of the main wicketkeeper in that series while Bharat has been included as his backup. Ishan Kishan will also play the role of wicketkeeper in the three-match ODI and T20I series against New Zealand starting next week.
