Russia-Ukraine War: Missile Barrage Cuts Power and Water Across Ukraine

The Russian military again fired missiles at Ukraine on Saturday. The attack specifically targeted civilian facilities in the capital Kyiv and another major city, Kharkiv. Additionally, there have been missile attacks in Mykolaiv, Lviv, Vinnitsa, Chuhuev, Dnipro and Odessa. These attacks have disrupted electricity and water supply in many cities.

Ukraine's air defense system has given information about destroying many missiles in the sky by retaliating. Fighting continues in the cities of eastern Ukraine as before. The Russian army is now launching an attack to capture Bakhmut.

Electricity and water supply stalled in many cities

The Russian military has been targeting Ukraine's power stations with missiles and drones since October 2022. Due to this, there has been a shortage of electricity and water in the cold season, due to which the citizens are facing a lot of difficulty. Kyiv's military administration said the Russian attack caused damage to a power station but was not serious. Some houses in a nearby village have also been damaged.

Ten people, including two children, were injured in the Russian attack

Ukraine's electricity supplier Ukraine Ergo has said that engineers and workers are working day and night to repair the damage to the power system. Things will be normalized soon. It may be noted that the minimum temperature in Kyiv at this time is minus two degrees Celsius. Ten people, including two children, were reported injured in a missile attack on a multi-storey building in Dnipro. A part of the building has been destroyed.

No sirens

In Saturday's attack, the Russian military fired missiles along a ballistic missile route. In this, the missile is fired from a great height and the radars cannot catch it soon. Ukraine does not have a defense system to track ballistic missiles. That's why many cities didn't sound warning sirens before Saturday's attack.

Sunak spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday and assured him of being together.
