Story of a Passionate Girl - Reeswali Naik
Reeswali Naik grew up in a very small town in Odisha. She is a software developer by profession but she loves writing, dancing, sketching, acting, etc. She describes herself as "A Mysterious Mortal". Besides being a techie, she is also a trained Odissi dancer. She has been writing since she was in Class-3. She has co-authored many anthologies. She has always been a perfectionist and believes to achieve it in whatever she does. She has a curious mind and thus spends most of her time trying out new things.
Lets know more about her by asking some questions !
When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Reeswali Naik - I wrote my first poem in the age of 8 as a school assignment but then I never tried writing. Then again when I was in class 10, one day while sitting quietly I started scribbling and poured my heart out on the paper. After completing when I read it I realised I had written a poem. That time we had many Shakespeare's writing in our syllabus and I liked the way Shakespeare wrote tragedy beautifully. From then onwards I realised that I wanted to be a writer.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Reeswali Naik - Frankly speaking I till now did not consider myself as a writer because writers are those people who can dive deep into the ocean of life and knowledge and pen down their thoughts just like the beautiful lotus that blooms in the murky water. I just pen down whatever I feel or what I have seen or experienced. If that qualifies me as a writer then I became a writer when I was in school and I used to write my own essays or debate on various topics without taking anyone's help.
How many books have you written or compiled ?
Reeswali Naik - I have co-authored 10+ anthologies and am in the process of compiling my first anthology.
What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?
Reeswali Naik - I don't have a work schedule as such when I am writing. I write whenever I have any thoughts in mind. I just pen down my thoughts on the paper and when I am done writing I arrange them systematically and correct the grammatical errors If any.
What is the most difficult part about writing for you?
Reeswali Naik- The most difficult part for me about writing to write lengthy prose. I love writing poems. Whenever I select a topic to write I automatically start writing poetic phrases but if somewhere I have to write lengthy prose I always feel short of words. I face difficulty in explaining the stuff in the same way I have it in my mind while writing lengthy and detailed prose.

What advice would you give new writers?
Reeswali Naik - Don't shy away about your writings. Write whatever comes in your mind and heart. Just pen it down without fearing about messing up . Follow your own style rather than trying to replicate other's writing style. Read alot and keep on improving your vocabulary and never get demotivated. Success takes time. It may take a lot of time to make your writing recognised but at the end it will worth it. It needs practice. As you keep on writing, gradually you will improve the quality of your writing and the way you think about the topic will also become more improved and deep.
