On 10th September 2025, Dr. Shigwan was conferred the Bharat Pratibha Samman 2025-26 at the Prime Minister Museum & Library Auditorium, New Delhi. The award was presented by Shri Anurag Thakur, Member of Parliament and former Union Minister, known for his work in youth and cultural development. The event was graced by Padma Shri awardees Prof. Dr. Kamal Kumar Sethi and Kathak legend Shovana Narayan, making the occasion especially memorable.
The Bharat Pratibha Samman, with its theme “A Mission to Honour India’s Grassroot Talent,” celebrates individuals who embody resilience, impact, and service to the nation. In his acceptance speech, he remarked, “This award belongs not just to me, but to every villager who chose solar energy over kerosene, every teacher who believed in the power of light for education, and every team member who worked under the scorching sun to make villages self-reliant.”
Just days later, on 13th September 2025, Green India Initiative was honored with the Chhatrapati Maharashtra Udyojak Puraskar 2025 in Pune. This award celebrates entrepreneurial excellence with a strong social impact, and GIIPL’s pioneering work in rural electrification using solar technology stood out.
