US News: 33-years old Man Arrested Allegedly trying to open Plan's Emergency Door, Stabs Attendant

A 33-year-old man from Leominster, Massachusetts, has been arrested. ,The man has been charged with allegedly trying to open an emergency exit door and stabbing a flight attendant in the neck on a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Boston. This information has been given by the US Department of Justice.

Will appear in court on March 9

The US Justice Department said the suspect has been identified as Francisco Severo Torres. According to the statement, Torres was arrested at Boston Logan International Airport on Sunday evening and was held in custody for a March 9 hearing after a court appearance.

Crew arrived after warning alarm

According to charging documents, Torres was a passenger aboard a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Boston. About 45 minutes before landing, the flight crew received an alarm in the cockpit that a starboard side door located between the first class and coach sections of the aircraft was being opened. Upon inspection a flight attendant found that the emergency gate was nearly opened when attempting to fully open the door's locking handle. 

 Tampering with the door for a long time

According to the statement, the flight attendant reported the matter to the captain and flight crew after securing the door and emergency slide. In subsequent discussions, a fellow flight attendant reported that she had seen Torres near the door and that he was fumbling with the door. According to the statement, when Francisco Severo Torres was questioned, he asked if he was seen doing something like this on camera. 

Thrice attacked on the neck of the attendant

Shortly after, Torres approached the starboard side door where two flight attendants were standing, according to court documents. One of them allegedly hit the flight attendant three times on the neck with a broken metal spoon. The passengers then handled Torres and with the help of the flight crew she was restrained. Torres was taken into custody shortly after the flight landed in Boston. 

Severe punishment for assaulting crew
