Amid India-China border tensions, the Indian Navy is strengthening its surveillance mechanism to keep an eye on the increasing activities of China, including warships of the Chinese military, in the Indian Ocean region.

2- Predator drones have been specially designed to stay in the air for a long time and monitor high-altitude areas. The Indian armed forces are focusing on procuring such weapons after the standoff with China in eastern Ladakh. The MQ 9B is designed to meet not only NATO standards, but also the requirements of civilian airspace in the US and around the world. The Indian Navy has proposed for the purchase of these drones and the hope of getting 10-10 drones for the three services has increased.

3- It has been prepared by the American defense company General Atomics. These drones can stay in the air for about 35 hours. It is used for many purposes including border surveillance, intelligence gathering and destroying enemy positions. This drone can carry about 450 kg of bombs with it. There are two variants of the MQ-9B, the Sky Guardian and the Sea Guardian. The purchase proposal is also understood to have been discussed during the two-plus-two talks between India and the US in Washington in April.

4- The US had approved the sale of drones in the year 2019. Integrated air and missile defense systems were also offered. India in February last year signed a $2.6 billion deal with the US for the purchase of 24 MH-60 Romeo helicopters from American company Lockheed Martin for the Navy. The supply of those helicopters has started.
