Australian Foreign Minister said, Indo-Pacific is being given a new shape; It is in the interest of both the countries
Australian Foreign Minister Wong said that both India and Australia do not want to see any country dominate. He said that we both believe that our region is being reshaped both economically and strategically.
Australia's Foreign Minister Penny Wong said on Monday that India and Australia recognize that the Indo-Pacific region is being reshaped. This is in the interest of both the countries. He said this in a press conference with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The 13th Foreign Ministers Framework Dialogue (FMFD) meeting was held between the two countries. India and Australia are comprehensive strategic partners in this meeting. The Australian Foreign Minister said that we are a quad partner. We are partners in many other ways as well.
Wong said that both India and Australia do not want to see any country dominate. He said that we both believe that our region is being reshaped both economically and strategically. Our partnership is a demonstration of what we understand is how best to navigate this period of change together.
Underlining the importance of partnering with India, Wong said that for Australia, this partnership (India) is an important part of shaping the region that we want to be.
Australia to open a Consulate General in Bangalore
He said that both the countries have agreed to deepen ties including diplomatic footprint in each other's country. We are looking at opening a Consulate General in Bengaluru, the center of India's technology industry, sometime next year, he said.
Jaishankar to hold talks with top leadership of Australia
Jaishankar has reached Canberra on Monday. He will hold talks with Australia's top leadership to further enhance bilateral cooperation. Jaishankar tweeted that I have reached Canberra. It was great to see the old Parliament House of Australia in our national colors. In Australia, Jaishankar will go to Canberra and Sydney.
Jaishankar's second visit this year
This is the second visit of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to Australia this year. The first was to attend the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Melbourne in February 2022. The Secretary of State will also meet the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Defense Minister Richard Marles.
