Enforcement Directorate has sealed the National Herald office. It also directed that the premises should not be opened without the prior permission of the agency. Following this direction issued by the ED, additional police forces have been deployed outside the AICC headquarters in Delhi. This action has been taken by the Enforcement Directorate at a time when the Congress has opened a front against the government on this issue. The Congress alleges that the central government is misusing the ED to harass opposition parties.
During the recent ED actions, the Congress took to the streets to protest. In view of maintaining law and order, additional police personnel have been deployed outside the Congress headquarters. Congress is also continuously raising this issue in Parliament. Congress members created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The Congress claimed in the Lok Sabha that the probe agency ED has become a tool of the BJP government to crush the opposition parties.
Let us tell you that the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday raided 12 places in Delhi, including the headquarters of the Congress-owned 'National Herald' newspaper, as part of its investigation in the money laundering case. Officials said the raids were conducted under criminal sections of the Money Laundering (Prevention) Act (PMLA) to collect evidence as to between whom the money was transacted. The ED has recently questioned Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi in this case.
