Explosions in Ukraine's capital city Kyiv in the early hours of Wednesday. There was no immediate official confirmation of the blasts, Reuters reported. The incident was informed by the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko.

Blast in Kyiv: Loud explosions were heard in the capital city of Ukraine in the early hours of Wednesday. Reuters reported, however, that there was no immediate official confirmation of the blasts. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the explosions occurred in the Shevchenkivs'kyi district of the city center in the early hours of Wednesday.

The report said emergency services maps showed air raid sirens warning in the capital and its surrounding area about 20 minutes before the blasts. 

Air defense systems are working

The governor of the Kyiv region, Oleksiy Kuleba, said the air defense systems were working. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said the explosions occurred early Wednesday in the city's central Shevchenkivs'kyi district

"Emergency services have been dispatched,"

 Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging app.

Two administrative buildings were damaged in a drone attack on Wednesday in Ukraine's capital Kyiv. The city administration said that there is still no information about the death.

Downed 10 Iranian drones

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said air defense systems shot down 10 Iranian-made drones and explosions occurred in the central Shevchenkivsky district. Meanwhile, Russia's close ally Belarus has announced a snap military inspection in the country's south, including increased combat readiness. 

US plans to provide Ukraine with the Patriot missile defense system could be announced this week, three US officials told Reuters on Tuesday. 

Paris promised to Ukraine

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said in Paris that nearly 70 countries and institutions have pledged just over 1 billion euros ($1.05 billion) to help Ukraine maintain water, food, energy, health and transport in the face of Russia's attacks. More than promised.
