Assam Police has got great success. Assam Police has arrested five people from Nagaon and Morigaon districts for allegedly supplying SIM cards to Pakistani agents. A police spokesperson has given this information on Wednesday. 

Police also recovered mobile phone, sim card

According to the police, several mobile phones, SIM cards and other incriminating material including a handset used for sharing defense information with foreign embassies have also been seized from the accused. Assam Police spokesperson Prashant Bhuiyan said the arrests were made during an operation carried out on Tuesday night based on inputs from the Intelligence Bureau and other sources. Assam Police spokesperson Prashant Bhuiyan said information was received that around 10 people from these two districts were involved in fraudulently obtaining SIM cards from various service providers and supplying them to some Pakistani agents. These accused were working against the integrity and sovereignty of the nation. After which five accused have been arrested on Tuesday night.

The accused are residents of Nagaon and Morigaon

Those arrested have been identified as Ashiqul Islam, Bodor Uddin, Mizanur Rehman and Wahiduj Zaman of Nagaon and Baharul Islam of Morigaon. Seized 18 mobile phones, 136 SIM cards in the recovered items from the houses of the arrested persons and five other absconding accused. Apart from this, a fingerprint scanner, a hi-tech CPU and some documents like birth certificate, passbook and photographs have also been seized. 

IB officers are interrogating the accused

During interrogation it was also revealed that Ashikul Islam was using a mobile handset with two IMEI numbers, from which a WhatsApp call was made, sharing defense information with a foreign embassy. Bhuiyan said that specific mobile phone was found in his possession. Other arrested people were also found to be technically involved in this connection. Intensive questioning is underway with IB officials.
