Flu cases increased with Covid-like symptoms in India form last two months, Center issues advisory
Several parts of India have seen a rise in the number of cases of influenza with prolonged illness and prolonged cough over the last two months.
The increase in the number of these cases after facing the Covid pandemic for two years has created panic among the people. A large number of cases of fever and flu have been reported across the country.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that it is caused by the Influenza A subtype H3N2 virus. ICMR scientists say that H3N2 has been a threat to public health for the last two-three months. Compared to other subtypes, more people affected by it are hospitalized. They have also issued a list of do's and don'ts for the people to protect themselves from the virus.
Notably, the H3N2 virus causes more cases of hospitalization than other subtypes. According to experts, its cases have come up all over India for the last two-three months. Symptoms usually include a persistent cough with fever. In recent cases, many patients have complained of such symptoms for a long period of time.
According to experts, the infection is taking time to heal. The symptoms are acute and the symptoms persist for a long time even after the patient recovers. Experts say that the H3N2 virus causes more hospitalizations than other influenza subtypes.
It has been told that the new strain of influenza is not fatal. Some patients are facing hospitalization due to respiratory problems. Some of its symptoms are similar to Covid, but all my patients have tested negative. Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has advised against indiscriminate use of antibiotics amid rising cases of cough, cold and nausea across the country.
