Under the new law, gay couples who are already registered in a partnership can now convert their union into marriage. Marriage process in Switzerland

If you are a US citizen and wish to marry in Switzerland, you will need to sign a document declaring that you meet all the criteria for marriage.

The bride or groom should not be less than 18 years of age or in a registered partnership and should not be already married. If a non-Swiss resident wishes to marry a Swiss citizen, he or she must submit the appropriate documents of their home country. In some cases, a non-Swiss citizen may need to apply for a visa.

It is to be noted here that tourists cannot get married in Switzerland if they are on visa.

In a typical ceremony in Switzerland, you will have to spend between US $300 i.e. Rs 23,972 to $400 i.e. Rs 31,963. When it comes to the citizen participation fee, it will come down a bit, which is around $200 i.e. Rs 15906.
