There was once a time in ODIs when it was challenging for a batsman to score more than 150 runs in an innings. But in 2010, on this day Sachin Tendulkar changed the history completely.
There used to be a time in ODIs when it was tough for a batsman to score more than a hundred and fifty runs in an innings. But it was in 2010, on this day that the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar totally changed the history of the game. At Gwalior ,in a match against South Africa, the Indian batsman introduced up the first double-hundred in men's ODI cricket . Sachin scored 200 not-out from simply 147 deliveries, and his innings blanketed 25 fours and 3 sixes. This was the first and best individual ODI score at that time. Prior to the enormous effort via Sachin, Saeed Anwar and Charles Coventry (194) collectively held this record.
Two years later, teammate Virender Sehwag overtook this record and scored 219 against the West Indies. Six of another hundreds have been scored since then, three by Rohit Sharma himself.
In the match,Sachin's innings geared up the score board to 401 runs.Dinesh Karthik (79) and MS Dhoni (68)aided the innings. South African bowlers faced dramatic defeat -pacer Wayne Parnell gave away ninety five runs in 10 overs.
The right-hand batsman AB de Villiers scored a brilliant 114 runs from 101 balls only but that was not enough to get to the victory zone before the Indian team.The Indians scored a 153-run heading towards victory
