She has done this in support of the ongoing protests in Iran. In fact, on September 16, a 22-year-old girl, Mahsa Amini, was killed in Iranian police custody. The girl was arrested for violating the hijab law. Since then the demonstrations are going on there and this is the fifth week.
South Korea's Justice Ministry declined to confirm whether Iranian athletes are currently there or have left, citing privacy regulations. At the same time, South Korea's Foreign Ministry has also said that it will not make any statement on the matter. The 33-year-old has competed in the Asian Championships three times, and has won one silver and two bronze medals.
Rekabi was initially seen in hijab
According to the Korea Alpine Federation, the organizer of the event in Seoul, Recabi did not wear a hijab in the final of Sunday's Asia Championships. Federation officials said Rekabi initially wore a hijab during a one-week climbing event. He is in the 11-man delegation of Iran, which has eight athletes and three coaches. The federation also pointed out that there was no law requiring female athletes to wear the hijab for the event.
