Johnson & Johnson agreed to give $230 million to New York State to settle the claim that was made over the opioid crisis. This was disclosed by Attorney General Letitia James on Saturday. James announced this in a statement that the pharmaceutical company has also agreed with New York to end the manufacture and distribution of opioids across the country. He said, "The company helped fuel this fire (drug crisis) but today they are committing to abandon the opioid business not only in New York but all over the country. A 2019 trial by James under the agreement will help Johnson & Johnson get rid of the trial, which was scheduled to begin in Long Island next week.
