The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked political parties to submit their applications for allotment of election symbols ahead of the general elections in the country due after October. Geo News based report said.

The ECP said the applications can be submitted with the signature of the party leader till July 19. The election monitoring body further said that the signature of the party leader is necessary on the application. "Each application should include the address of the head office of the political party," it said, reported Geo News. The ECP further said it would verify the eligibility of the party after receiving the application.

The ECP asked the parties to re-submit their applications for elections to be held in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces in February. As per Geo News report, it further states, "Incomplete applications or those submitted through fax will not be accepted."

Applications will not be accepted after July 19

The report added that the election watchdog said that applications for symbols submitted before July 1 would not be accepted. It further said that applications will not be accepted after July 19. It was also announced that as per section 206 of the Election Act 2017, affidavit is mandatory along with the application.
