Sudan Army-RSF announced a three-day ceasefire on Eid
Army-RSF announced a three-day ceasefire on Eid - Countries around the world were worried about the safe evacuation of their citizens. RSF said airports have been partially opened for the safe evacuation of foreign nationals.
In the midst of the civil war in Sudan, the Sudanese army has agreed to the safe evacuation of citizens of another country. The statement by army chief Abdel Fateh al-Burhan came after IS chief Mohammad Hamdan Dagolah alias Hemedti assured a ceasefire. The army and the RSF have jointly announced a three-day ceasefire from Friday on Eid. During the ceasefire, airports can be opened for the safe evacuation of foreign nationals.
Complete ceasefire
In a statement issued on Saturday by the Sudanese army, it was said that other countries, including the US, would safely evacuate their citizens from Khartoum in the next few hours. The army said that the citizens of Saudi Arabia have already been evacuated from the Port Sudan side.
Similarly, Jordan will also evacuate its citizens. RSF chief Hemedti said on Facebook early Saturday that he received a call from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who stressed the need to observe a complete ceasefire and provide protection to humanitarian and medical workers.
RSF said airports have been partially opened for the safe evacuation of foreign nationals. Let us tell you that on Friday itself, America had said that the government is not helping for the evacuation of American citizens and about 16,000 American citizens are stranded in Sudan. Let us inform that so far 413 people have died in the ongoing civil war in Sudan. With this, 3,551 people have been injured.
RSF attacked Al-Huda prison
Sudan's army said on Friday that the paramilitary force RSF attacked the country's largest prison in Omdurman. Inmates' lawyers said in a statement that the RSF forcibly vacated the prison.
The RSF, however, denied the allegations outright. Here, Sudan's medical association said on Saturday that two-thirds of the hospitals located in violence-hit areas are closed. At the same time, only first aid is being given in some hospitals due to lack of water, electricity and staff.
