Before the T20 World Cup to be held in October, the England team has suffered a major setback in the form of Jonny Bairstow. Discussions have intensified regarding the replacement of Bairstow, who was ruled out of the World Cup due to injury. As his replacement, the names of two players are leading the way.

Experienced Alex Hales and uncapped Will Jacques are the frontrunners as replacements for Bairstow. But in the meantime, the England Cricket Board has given a statement saying that there is no hurry to replace middle-order batsman Jonny Bairstow with any other player. Let us tell you that Bairstow was recently injured while playing golf. He had an injury in the lower part of the leg. 

A report in the Daily Mail on Sunday also said that the charismatic batsman will hold talks with an expert early next week. After that it will be decided that for how many days he will be away from the field Bairstow has been ruled out of the third Test against South Africa and the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in October-November due to injury.

The report said that the 32-year-old cricketer will get a clear idea on Tuesday about how long it will take for his recovery. Bairstow suffered a hamstring injury on his left leg when he slipped on the golf course last Friday. The ECB has until 16 September to send its final list of 15 players to the International Cricket Council (ICC). 

Bairstow's exit from the World Cup is a big blow

Bairstow, the highest run-scorer in Test cricket this year, scored 1,061 runs in 13 innings at an average of 66.31, including six centuries and one half-century. His injury has dealt a big blow to England not only in the World Cup but also in the deciding Test against South Africa from 8 September.
