T20WC 2022 Mohammad Siraj and stormy pacer Umran Malik will fly to Perth with the Indian contingent on October 6. Here the team will practice in the camp for about a week and play a warm-up match against West Australia.
Following the injury of Jasprit Bumrah, the BCCI has decided to send two additional fast bowlers as backup for the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia. Mohammad Siraj, who was included in the squad against South Africa, and stormy pacer Umran Malik will fly to Perth with the Indian contingent on October 6. Here the team will practice in the camp for about a week and play a warm-up match against West Australia.
The team will then play the first official World Cup warm-up match in Brisbane on 17 October. The BCCI has not yet given any official information on Bumrah not going to Australia. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has definitely said that hope should be maintained about Bumrah. However, the reality is far from the dream. According to sources, the board wants Bumrah to be taken along with the team if he becomes fit even after a few matches of the World Cup, but taking an unfit player along in such a big tournament will not be less than a double-edged sword.
Four members of the World Cup squad Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel) have not played in Australia before, while fifth member Dinesh Karthik has played only one match in Australia. He played a T20 International in Melbourne more than 15 years ago. They will benefit from this camp. The camp will also help two reserve players, Ravi Bishnoi and Deepak Chahar, who have never played in Australia. They have to adapt quickly and be ready for the match as they can be called up when needed.
India are waiting for the injured Hooda and Jasprit Bumrah to recover. Both the players are currently undergoing treatment for their back injuries at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). It is understood that Bumrah has been scanned in the NCA. On the other hand, India is about to reach the World Cup after a lot of preparation. He has been busy for the last three months. After playing T20 in UAE for Ireland, England, Caribbean, Asia Cup, now playing T20 series against Australia and South Africa on home soil.
