X's owner Elon Musk openly supported Donald Trump during the US elections. Due to this, many people left X. Most of the new users on this platform are from the US, Canada and the UK.
Social media platform Bluesky has got more than 1 million new users since the US presidential election. Let us tell you that X's owner Elon Musk openly supported Donald Trump during the US election. In such a situation, many unhappy people left this platform and started migrating to another place. Bluesky seems to be benefiting from this. Micro-blogging site Bluesky said on Wednesday that its number of users has crossed 15 million, which was around 9 million in September. It is worth noting that media organizations like The Guardian have also said not to post X content.
Started by Twitter's founder
Bluesky was started in 2019 by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. Bluesky has become popular as a refuge for left-wing users unhappy with the right-wing stance of X under Musk's leadership. According to Al Jazeera, some BlueSky users have cited Musk's alliance with new US President Donald Trump and the rise of hate content on X as reasons for joining the platform. According to the New York Times report, most of the new users on BlueSky are from the US, Canada and Britain.
Billionaire Mark Cuban, who supported Vice President Kamala Harris during the election, posted on Tuesday, "Hello, less hateful world." On Wednesday, The Guardian newspaper announced that it would no longer post content on X, as the "toxic media platform" contains "disturbing content" such as racism. Similarly, those who left X include prominent journalist Charlie Warzel, New York Times' Mara Gay and former CNN anchor Dan Lemon.
Some users praised BlueSky, saying that it is away from American politics. One X user wrote, "BlueSky is great, there is no American politics or spam - the old tech Twitter found again." Another user called the app a 'breath of fresh air' and said it has 'no bots, no spam, and no fake news.'
Trump recently announced that X owner Musk and American entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy will lead the 'Department of Government Efficiency' (DOGE) in his administration. Musk has been a consistent supporter of Trump in the 2024 US presidential election and also appeared at his campaign rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City in October.
