More than 150 people were injured in a quake-like explosion that rocked a seven-story building in the congested Gulistan area of Old Dhaka on Tuesday, officials said.

While the cause of the blast could not be immediately ascertained, local residents suspect that chemicals kept illegally inside the building, which is mostly used as an office and commercial complex, may have triggered the blaze.

Speaking to reporters after visiting the blast site on Wednesday, Asaduzzaman Khan said members of the bomb disposal units and personnel from the police, army and fire service would investigate the incident.
