IND vs AUS T20: Umesh Yadav reaches Chandigarh, possibilities of comeback in T20I after 3 years
Umesh Yadav has been included in the team in his place due to IND vs AUS T20 Mohammed Shami being covid positive. He has reached Chandigarh this morning. He can make a comeback in T20I after 3 years against Australia.
India's fast bowler Umesh Yadav has reached Chandigarh on Sunday morning to participate in the 3-match T20 series against Australia. He has been called in place of Mohammed Shami who has been ruled out of this series due to being covid positive. Shami himself was about to play his first T20 match after the World Cup in Dubai last year. Looking at the way Umesh has been called, it seems that he can be a part of the playing XI in the first T20 match against Australia.
If Umesh makes it to the playing XI in the first T20I, he will return to white ball cricket after 43 months. It is a coincidence that he played his last T20 match against Australia in Visakhapatnam in February 2019 and his last ODI match was against West Indies in Visakhapatnam in 2018.
However, this does not mean that Umesh stayed away from limited overs cricket during this period, rather he surprised everyone with his bowling in IPL 2022. Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, he was one of the most dangerous bowlers in the powerplays in IPL, taking 16 wickets at an economy rate of 7. This is the reason why Shami was the first to be remembered as soon as he left.
Let us tell you that the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup has been announced and both these fast bowlers have not found a place in the 15-man squad. However, Mohammed Shami has been kept as a stand-by and in such a situation, the series against Australia was important for him. But now it seems that he will be seen playing only in the series against South Africa. After the series against Australia, Team India will play T20 and ODI series against South Africa.
