Russia's powerful MiG-29 fighter aircraft may soon be included in the Indian Air Force fleet. The Indian Air Force has received tender applications for the supply of 21 aircraft in 2021. Giving information about the matter, Valeria Reshetnikova, Spokesperson of Russia's Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation, said that Russia has also submitted a commercial proposal to India regarding the supply of 21 MiG-29 aircraft.
Spokesperson Valeria said that a proposal has been sent from Russia to India. Now India has to consider this. Russia's state-run news agency Sputnik reported that Reshetnikova said these things on the sidelines of an international air show. Last year, India's Defense Acquisition Council approved the acquisition of 21 MiG-29 fighter jets from Russia. The Russian Federal Service said in February that the Indian government had also decided in favor of buying the aircraft.
Let us inform that the international air show is being organized in Moscow, Russia from July 20-25. In June last year, sources told news agency ANI that the Indian Air Force has sent a proposal to the government for new fighter aircraft, including 21 MiG-29s from Russia. The 21 MiG-29 combat aircraft that the Indian Air Force is planning to acquire are manufactured in Russia and meet the need for new fighter jets.
The Indian Air Force has three squadrons of MiG-29s, one each being a two-engine single seat aircraft. They are considered very effective and are currently being upgraded. An early model of a new fighter has also been introduced at the air show held in Russia. It is equipped with many state-of-the-art features. Aircraft manufacturer Sukhoi has designed the new aircraft as a light aircraft. This aircraft will make its first flight in 2023 and its supply will start from 2026.
