The 54-year-old Sherpa climbed the 8,848.86-metre-high peak twice within a week last spring, his 28th ascent of Everest. Kami Rita is the mountaineer who holds the record for climbing the world's highest peak the most number of times in the 71-year long history of climbing the highest peak of Sagarmatha (Mount Everest).

Conquered Mount Everest for the 30th time

Climbing Mount Everest is any mountaineer's dream. Kami Rita is the first mountaineer in the world who has climbed this peak the maximum number of times. He first conquered the world's highest peak Mount Everest in 1994. After that he has been climbing it successfully almost every year.

Last week, he posted on Instagram from Everest Base Camp that he was back to make his 29th climb "to the top of the world."

400 mountaineering permits have been issued

The Nepal government has issued about 400 mountaineering permits to climbers for the spring season running from April to June this year. Almost all climbers are accompanied by a local guide, which means around 800 people are expected to make the climb.

More than 600 people reached the summit last year but it was one of the deadliest climbs with 18 people dying on the mountain.

Lhakpa Sherpa is the woman who has climbed Mount Everest the most number of times so far. In the year 2022, he made his 10th climb with a world record.
