Some countries in the world are facing natural calamities. On one hand the earthquake has caused huge devastation in Turkey and Syria, on the other hand New Zealand is also affected by the cyclone.

New Zealand's national carrier has canceled dozens of flights because of the cyclone. Two weeks after the record-breaking storm, the country's largest city, Auckland, was flooded and four people died.

Air New Zealand said it was canceling all domestic flights to and from Auckland as of Tuesday afternoon, as well as a number of international flights.

The national carrier said some international routes would continue to operate in the meantime, although flights may need to be diverted from Auckland.

Many domestic flights canceled

The national carrier has also canceled several domestic flights to and from the cities of Hamilton, Tauranga and Taupo. The cyclone has affected the northern part of New Zealand on Sunday.

Up to 250 millimeters (10 in) of rain is expected in Auckland on Monday. The wind speed of Cyclone Gabriel was earlier downgraded as the cyclone slowed down. Winds were expected to reach about 130 kilometers per hour (80 mph)

PM asked people to be prepared for any situation

The Meteorological Department said the cyclone could bring a "widespread and significant" weather phenomenon with heavy rains, strong winds and large waves.

New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins told reporters that please take this seriously, we expect bad weather to come. So please make sure you are ready. Make sure you have preparation, he said. Also be prepared for any situation.

Traffic affected due to cyclone

Before New Zealand, the cyclone passed near the remote Norfolk Island. Norfolk Island is a territory of Australia and about 1 thousand 750 people live here. Flooding and winds closed some roads and left thousands of homes without power as the cyclone hit New Zealand's Northland region on Sunday. Two weeks ago, Aucklanders got the heaviest rain in the city. The rising flood waters had killed four people there.
