One Nation-One Fertilizer Scheme: The scheme of Nation-One Fertilizer will help in tightening the noose on the fertilizer companies who cheat the farmers in the competition to sell their products from multi-brands. It will also help in curbing competition between dealers and agents of fertilizer producing companies. All 177 fertilizer companies in the country will start selling single brand Bharat Fertilizer from October 2. On behalf of the Ministry of Fertilizers, all the concerned parties have been instructed to make elaborate preparations. Under this, the packaging of fertilizer will become uniform.

All the companies will have to sell their fertilizer in the name of Bharat Fertilizer

At present, 177 fertilizer companies in the country sell subsidized products urea, di ammonia phosphate (DAP), nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium (NPK), muriate of potash (MOP). Now all these companies will have to sell fertilizer under the name of single brand Bharat Fertilizer. With this, dealers and agents of different companies will not be able to mislead the farmers unnecessarily. The entire sale of fertilizers will be done only through Point of Sale (POS) machine which is linked with Aadhar number. Soon the land records of farmers will also be added to this.

A senior official of the Ministry of Fertilizers said that farmers will have complete freedom to take fertilizer as per their requirement. The subsidy received on fertilizers to the farmers is paid directly to the fertilizer companies. Its benefit is given to the farmers in the form of cheap fertilizer. Farmers will not be confused due to having single brand fertilizer. The quality of each sack of manure will be the same.

However, there is a serious danger of eroding the brand value of fertilizer companies. But it has been clarified in the government notification that companies will be able to enter their details at the bottom of the packing sack of fertilizer

Despite the increase in the prices in the world market, there has been no increase in the prices of fertilizers in the domestic markets. Due to the increase in the price of natural gas and raw materials, there was going to be an unexpected increase in the price of fertilizer, in view of which the central government has made a provision of fertilizer subsidy of Rs 2.3 lakh crore for the current financial year 2022-23. Whereas during the last financial year 2021-22, the subsidy was Rs 1.62 lakh crore. The government has shifted the burden on the farmers to its treasury.
