At the same time, PM Shehbaz Sharif, who came to power in April last year, has given the opposition a chance to question due to the continuous expansion of his cabinet and recruitment of special assistants. 

Sharif has been seeking austerity since coming to power in April last year, but has been constantly expanding the cabinet by inducting more people as special assistants to the prime minister without adopting clear criteria and procedures, the Express Tribune reported. Because many people are looking angry. 

Former senator and lawyer Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar and Pakistan's former foreign minister and chairman of the Board of Investment of Pakistan (BOI) Haroon Sharif, among others, were also present on the occasion. 

Accusing the PML-N-led ruling coalition of being disconnected from the public, it called for reducing the size of the cabinet amid the worst-ever financial crisis.

The former senator said the government has shown genuine insensitivity by appointing many more SAPMs at a time when the country is going through the worst financial crisis in its history. There is no financial space left for the common man to carry on with his daily life with dignity. 

Reacting to the swelling of 85 members in the federal cabinet of the coalition government, Khokhar said it shows that the ruling elites are not only voiceless but are disconnected from the masses to such an extent, The Express Tribune reported. That he had no idea about the options he had People were being forced to meet the kitchen expenses as well as pay their bills, rents and children's school fees. 

On the claim of the ministers of the government that the new appointments will not put a burden on the national exchequer. Khokhar said the government may say about the new appointments that there is no burden on the exchequer, but they will be given the office and its accompanying paraphernalia.
