Indian-origin Home Minister Priti Patel on Monday resigned from her post after Liz Truss's name was announced for the post of UK Prime Minister. Patel was appointed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who resigned on Tuesday. Indian-origin Attorney General Swela Fernandez Braverman is likely to be made Home Minister in the new government. Suella Braverman's family is from Goa. If Suella Braverman becomes the Home Minister, she will be the third minority to reach it. Before him, Pakistani-origin Sajid Javid and Indian-origin Priti Patel have become Home Ministers.
Resignation letter to janson
Johnson's close aide Preeti was already expected not to be part of the top truss team. In his resignation letter addressed to Johnson, Patel, 50, highlighted his many achievements, including a Migration and Mobility Partnership signed with India and other countries to combat illegal migration.
