Putin said that the West has crossed all limits of the border. The West is calling for Russia to be weakened and destroyed. In an address to the nation, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had signed a decree on the partial mobilization of the military when the war in Ukraine has reached nearly seven months. 

Putin said the decision was taken to protect the homeland, its sovereignty and territorial integrity. This was seen by the West as an escalation. 

Urgent decision was necessary to protect Russian people: Putin

Putin insisted that we are talking about partial mobilization. Citizens who are currently in reserve. They will be subject to recruitment and above all those who have served in the Armed Forces have a certain military specialty and relevant experience. Putin said the move was needed because it was imperative to make an immediate decision to protect the Russian people. 

The war going on for almost seven months

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday announced a partial mobilization in Russia. The war in Ukraine has been going on for almost seven months. Putin's address to the nation comes a day after Russian-controlled regions in eastern and southern Ukraine announced plans to hold votes on becoming an integral part of Russia.

Significantly, since the first months of the war, the plebiscite was expected to be held. Will begin on Friday in Luhansk, Kherson and partially in the Russian-controlled Zaporizhzhya and Donetsk regions. Putin said he had signed a decree on partial mobilization, which is due to begin on Wednesday.
