In a video message at the World Health Assembly in Geneva on Monday, he said that world leaders must take immediate steps with a global plan for equal access to vaccines. Also, solidarity should be shown for corona testing and treatment only then this epidemic can be defeated.

The UN chief reiterated the appeal for the G20 task force, stating that it unites all countries with vaccine production capacity, the World Health Organization (WHO), ACT-accelerator partners and international financial institutions. Therefore, the task force should aim at double manufacturing after knowing all the options.

At the same time, Gutres said that at the beginning of the epidemic he warned about its infection, but sadly we are now working to deal with it. We are facing the situation that rich countries are strengthening their economies by vaccinating most of their people, while the virus is spreading rapidly in poor countries. He further said that if this continues further, a large number of people will die from Corona. In such a situation, all countries will have to be united.

Gutres said that WHO needs to be at the center of global epidemic preparedness, it needs sustainable and predictable resources. WHO should be fully empowered to work as per demand. Gutres said, 'The world needs a framework for international cooperation and solidarity suitable for the future. Through which this disease can be fought.
